Just after Prohibition was repealed, the short-lived Breakfast Prohibition was instituted, where gangsters traded in black-market bacon and former rum-runners started brewing batches of bathtub maple syrup. The Speak Easy Cafe knows its onions when it comes to hearty, home-cooked meals. Breakfast is served all day, with eye-opening options like the Run Runner's breakfast of three eggs, bacon, and sausage ($7.59); or the Flapper's Freedom omlette with bacon, tomato, and cheese ($6.99). Carb cravings can be quashed like a stoolie with pancakes and French toast alone or with meat sidekicks. Midday and afternoon meals include garden, Greek, Caesar, and club salads ($5.59-$8.59), and burgers served with fries and all the trimmings. Triple-decker chicken or burger clubhouse sandwiches ($7.99) plus a selection of quesadillas and wraps round out the menu.
New owners Vickie and Roger invite patrons to ankle in to Speak Easy for delicious fare in a friendly and relaxed environment. Newly-extended hours have their doors open to hungry guys and dolls from 7:30am to 7:30pm Monday to Friday, and 8am to 4pm on the weekends.
